Who can use  Marine Parks?

Marine Parks are enjoyed by the general public and allow visitors the chance to interact with marine species in their native environments. Snorkeling, SCUBA diving and fishing are all activities which are possible in Marine Parks. Zones are designed to manage the trade-off between recreational users, commercial users and conservation objectives.

What are the different zones within marine park?

General Use Zone

most traditional, recreational and some commercial uses are permitted in this zone.

Habitat Protection Zone

Activities that do not harm habitats like line fishing and trapping are allowed in this zone.

Special Purpose Zone

Specific areas that require special management. e.g. Indigenous cultural use, marina.

Sanctuary Zone

most recreational activities are allowed, except those that harm or take plants or animals.
