Have Your Say in the Solitary Islands and Jervis Bay Marine Parks Reviews

Created in 1998, Solitary Islands Marine Park and Jervis Bay Marine Park were New South Wales' first two marine parks. This is the first review for both parks and there will not be another opportunity for community comment before 2018.

Both parks contain an amazing array of biodiversity and NPA is calling for an increased percentage of sanctuary zones for these parks. The current zoning of the parks does not provide adequate protection for the marine life within them and a variety of activities continue to negatively impact the parks.

Marine Sanctuaries: Keeping the Seas Alive
Our seas need areas that are as natural as possible in order to maintain their health and ensure they can withstand threats such as climate change.

Currently only 6.5% of our oceans are fully protected as marine sanctuaries. This is far from the recommended levels of 20-50%.

Building a network of marine sanctuaries for NSW means building more healty marine ecosystems with more fish and more productive fish that can better cope with the effects of human disturbance.

Send an email to the Premier today calling for more marine sanctuaries for NSW oceans.
